Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
TOLEDO, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones (9-8-5-1) scored three unanswered goals, including two in the third period, to defeat the Toledo Walleye (8-12-1-1) by a 3-2 score at the Huntington Center on Sunday afternoon. Dustin Sproat netted the game-winning tally while Marc Cheverie turned aside 42 saves to earn the Cyclones fourth come-from-behind win this season.
The Walleye jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening frame as Willie Coetzee and Tyler Gotto each scored less than two minutes apart. However, with just two seconds left in the period, Scott Reynolds was able to beat Walleye goalie Jordan Pearce (L, 31 saves, 2-3-0-0) with a low wrist shot for his seventh goal of the year - making it 2-1 Toledo at the break.
Cincinnati goalie Marc Cheverie (W, 42 saves, 8-4-2-1) made several outstanding stops to keep his team in the game, however nobody was able to find the net in the middle period for either side - and Toledo remained up 2-1 after 40 minutes.
Early in the third period, Sam D'Agostino picked up a loose puck in the low rim of the right circle and wristed an absolute laser past Pearce for the game-tying goal at the 2:36 mark. The Walleye continued to put the pressure on Cheverie, but again he was able to stay strong - keeping the game tied throughout the final frame. Then, at 17:29, Dustin Sproat cut out of the left corner and sent a beautiful backhanded shot over Pearce's glove-side shoulder for the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal, giving Cincinnati a 3-2 victory.
The Cyclones Radio Network Three Stars of the Game are as follows: 1. Dustin Sproat (Game-winning goal for Cincinnat) 2. Kyle Rogers (1 goal, 1 assist for Toledo) 3. Dominic Osman (2 assists for Toledo)
