Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced this afternoon they have agreed to terms with defenseman Brock Sheahan for the 2009-10 season.

Sheahan, 25, spent his rookie season with Wheeling, collecting four goals and 13 assists for 17 points while playing all 72 games. He finished the season with a +10 plus/minus rating, fourth-best on the squad. Brock was even or better in the plus/minus category in 59 of the 72 games the Nailers played. He had his lone multiple point game on December 26 in a 10-6 victory over Reading, notching a goal and adding an assist.

The five-foot-eleven, 180 pound native of Lethbridge, AB, played four seasons collegiately at Notre Dame-where he was a teammate of Mark Van Guilder, who played for the Cyclones last season. During his collegiate stretch with the Fighting Irish, Sheahan appeared in 161 games and tallied four goals and 29 assists for 33 points. A member of the 2006-07 Notre Dame squad that won the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's (CCHA) regular season and playoff titles, Brock scored an insurance goal in the 3-0 win over Lake Superior in the CCHA's Final Four that season. He was also a part of the 2007-08 squad that lost in the national championship game to Boston College.

"Brock Sheahan had a solid rookie season," Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "He is one of the guys that if he plays like that consistently this season, could earn a promotion to the American Hockey League ."

The addition of Brock Sheahan brings the number of players on the Cyclones roster to 17. He joins forwards Hans Benson, Jonathan Duchesneau, Kenton Dulle, Barret Ehgoetz, Jimmy Kilpatrick, Adam Krug, Matt Pierce, Brett Robinson, Dustin Sproat and Mark Voakes and defensemen Jamie Coghlan, Doug Krantz, Kirk Medernach, Brian O'Hanley, Kevin Roeder and Jason Woll.

Tickets for the 2009-10 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. The Cyclones open the season at Elmira on Friday, October 16 and after three road games, host their home opener at U.S. Bank Arena against Wheeling on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30pm. There will be a special divisional championship banner raising ceremony prior to that game.
