Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
GAME HIGHLIGHTS: The Williamsport Crosscutters didn't fare too well in the opener of the SawBuck Series falling to State College 5-3 on Monday night at Bowman Field.
In his first professional outing, P Vance Worley dominated as he went four strong innings only yielding one hit, no runs and two strikeouts. A weather delay forced him out in the fourth as he was plowing through the Spikes lineup. Three of the four innings Worley pitched, he retired State College in order.
The tide after the rain delay as P Spencer Arroyo relieved Worley, allowing four runs, three earned, in only an inning and a third of work, amazingly, off of only one hit.
The Cutters offense was paced by 3B Cody Overbeck who went 2-5 with a RBI.
The opener to the SawBuck Series also saw brother against brother as C Travis d'Arnaud would take the field against State College's Chase d'Arnaud. Travis was 2-4, and brother Chase was 1-4. Chase, however, would have the last laugh as State College walked away with the win.
Cutters DH Scott Thomas continued his hot hitting by adding a double and run scored in the 5th.
The Crosscutters will look to even the series tomorrow June 23rd at State College. The game can be heard on ESPN 1050.
