May 25, 2018 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, S.C. - School is almost out, but there will be no shortage of students at Joe Riley Park for the Charleston RiverDogs' upcoming six-game home stint against the Columbia Fireflies and Delmarva Shorebirds next week. The Holy City's top recurring promotions will complement the second and final Education Day of the season, as well as Larry Doby Weekend, paying homage to the historic Negro Leagues.

Tuesday, May 29, 7:05 p.m.: Live & Local Tuesday: Enjoy Charleston food, music, produce and more on another Live & Local Tuesday presented by 105.5 The Bridge, this week featuring guest PA Mark Bryan, one of the former members of Hootie & the Blowfish, a farmer's market on the concourse, live music from Tyrannical Wrecks, and local restaurant pop-up from Alfonso Castejon, the owner and head chef at Spanish and American restaurant the Castejons. Specialty $30 tickets are available for Murray's Mezzanine to enjoy the weekly restaurant pop-up each Tuesday at The Joe. Also be sure to check out the Landshark Shack for weekly drink specials.

Wednesday, May 30, 11:05 a.m.: Education Day: Rise and shine as the RiverDogs welcome students from around the Lowcountry to take in the mid-day contest. Approximately 5,000 local students and their teachers will play hooky for the day as the RiverDogs take on Columbia.

Thursday, May 31, 7:05 p.m.: Thirsty Thursday: It's Budweiser Thirsty Thursday presented by 95SX featuring dollar brews in the Budweiser Ashley View Pub as DJ Natty Heavy spins the hits all night long. Be sure to follow DJ Natty, Southern Eagle, and 95SX on social media for chances to win wristbands that give you access to Club Budweiser -- the VIP experience where you don't wait in line for beer!

Friday, June 1, 7:05 p.m.: Songs of Summer Fireworks: Enjoy a Home Telecom postgame fireworks extravaganza in conjunction with WEZL and Live 5 News following the game as the RiverDogs celebrate the songs that define summer throughout the night. It's also a Red Shirt Friday honoring the military; fans that wear red save a buck at the gate with the option to donate that dollar to the Palmetto Military Support Group.

Saturday, June 2, 6:05 p.m.: Helicopter Ball Drop/Larry Doby Weekend: The RiverDogs celebrate the history of Larry Doby, a South Carolina born Hall-of-Famer and the first black player signed in the American League as part of Doby Weekend presented by MUSC Health. Charleston honors Negro League history as the RiverDogs suit up in the uniforms of Doby's former team, the Newark Eagles, and the Shorebirds don the uniforms of the Frontier Greys as part of an annual tradition. Members of the groundbreaking Canon Street Y.M.C.A. All-Stars, the all-black little league team denied the right to compete at the 1955 Little League World Series, will be in attendance. In conjunction with MUSC Health, the RiverDogs will help youth organizations around the Lowcountry attend the game with complimentary tickets to honor Doby's memory. Postgame, fans can try their luck at winning $4,000 during the second Fly-In Helicopter bouncy ball drop of the season.

Sunday, June 3, 5:05 p.m.: Larry Doby Weekend/Holy City Sunday: Go back in time when great names like Larry Doby and Cool Papa Bell glided across the diamond while live organ music entertained the masses. In the wrap up of Doby Weekend presented by MUSC Health, the RiverDogs' friends at Fox Music will provide an organ as Charles Miller gives the 22-year-old yard a nostalgic feel with live organ entertainment throughout the game. It's also an MUSC Health Family Sunday in the Holy City presented by CCPRC, Y102.5 and Lowcountry CW, where members of the MUSC Children's Health Kids Club get in free, while all kids play pre-game catch on the field and eat free before running the bases postgame.

RiverDogs single-game tickets, including options to the Riley Park Club, are now available for the 2018 campaign, the club's 25th season as the RiverDogs and their "175th season in dog years." Ticket information can be secured by contacting the box office at (843) 577-DOGS (3647) or online at www.riverdogs.com/tickets.
