International League Final -- Monday, May 19th @ Lynx Stadium, Ottawa, ON Ottawa Lynx 8
Norfolk Tides 6 Winning Pitcher - Darwin Cubillan (2-3)
Losing Pitcher - Pedro Feliciano (3-2)
Save - Mike Garcia (11) Player of the Game: Jack Cust was 2-for-3, and his 7th inning three run homer deep to left center brought the Lynx from behind to win their second straight. Home Runs:
OTT - Jack Cust, his third of the year
NOR - Prentice Redman, his sixth Key Plays: Cust's 7th inning homer brought the Lynx all the way back after being behind by as many three runs. Recap: Norfolk took an early lead off of the ineffective Eric DuBose. Dan Garcia's RBI single in the 2nd and Prentice Redman's RBI groundout in the 3rd put the tides ahead. The Lynx got one back in the bottom of the 3rd, with back to back opposite field doubles by Pedro Swann and Brian Rios. The Tides took a 4-1 lead in the 4th, when they scored two more on a Jorge Velandia sac fly and a Jorge Toca RBI double. The offensive madness continued in the bottom half, as the Lynx got to within one. Steve Lomasney drew a two-out walk, and came to score on Chris Lemonis' double deep to left center. Pedro Swann followed with a double to right center, scoring Lemonis. The fireworks continued in the 5th, as Prentice Redman touched DuBose for a two run homer, while DuBose gave up a Lynx season high 12 hits in 4.1 innings. The Lynx scored two of their own in the bottom half (again) as Luis Matos this time drew a two-out walk, and scored on a double to center by Jack Cust. Cust then scored when Lomasney singled to left. There was no more scoring until the bottom of the 7th, when Joey Hammond led off with a line drive single to left, and went to second on Eddy Garabito's bouncer over the head of 3B Chris Basak. One out later, Cust capped his great day with a deep drive to left center, giving the Lynx the lead for the first time. Cust's homer was even of more significance as it came against a left-hander, whom Cust had been hitting .158 against for the season to this point. The bullpen corps of Todd Rizzo, Darwin Cubillan, and Mike Garcia have to be commended as they shut the Tides out after their great start. Darwin Cubillan (2.0ip, 1h, 0r, 0bb, 0k) gets the win.
Pedro Feliciano (2.0ip, 3h, 3r, 3er, 0bb, 2k) takes his second loss.
