Curve Snap Losing Streak with Friday Night Win

BOWIE, Md. - Jared Triolo hit his fifth home run of the season and Altoona snapped a three-game losing streak in Bowie as the Curve defeated the Baysox, 6-4, at Prince George's Stadium on Friday night.

After allowing over 10 runs in each of the first three games of the series, the Curve offense got the first punch in the outing, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning. Triolo singled to open the game and advanced to second on a wild pitch from Bowie starter Brenan Hanifee. Andres Alvarez then smashed an RBI-double off the left field wall to make it a 1-0 game.

Blake Sabol was hit by a pitch in the next at-bat. Alvarez then scored when Aaron Shackelford doubled into the right-center ally, putting two in scoring position. Matt Fraizer brought both runners across with a double of his own two batters later. After a Liover Peguero strikeout, the Baysox made a pitching change before Connor Scott cleared the bases with a bloop triple to left field off Jake Prizina, making it a 5-0 game.

The Baysox struck back for two runs off Kyle Nicolas in the bottom of the first. Nicolas loaded the bases with two outs on a pair of walks and a hit-by-pitch. He then walked home two runs with the bases loaded before getting out of the inning.

Triolo hit his home run in the second inning off Prizina to make it a 6-2 game. He finished the day with two hits. Nicolas settled in to go 3.2 innings, allowing the two runs on just two hits, four walks, and five strikeouts.

J.C. Flowers entered the game for Altoona and earned the win, allowing two runs over 3.1 innings on four hits and four strikeouts. Colton Cowser doubled to open the fifth inning and scored on a Joseph Ortiz single in the next at-bat. Connor Norby then opened the seventh with a solo home run to round off the scoring.

Tyler Samaniego earned the save for Altoona, tossing two scoreless frames and striking out one batter with one walk and no hits allowed.

The Curve continue their series with Bowie on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. RHP Quinn Priester takes the ball for Altoona, the Baysox will start RHP Justin Armbruester.
