ERIE, Pa - Though it was a large contrast to the first two games of the series, the Erie SeaWolves (AA-Tigers) still found a way to sneak past Altoona, defeating the Curve, 2-0 while recording just three hits on Friday night at Jerry Uht Park.

Gone by the wayside was the best outing of right-hander Jared Hughes' career as a Pirates' minor leaguer. The four-year pro tossed six no-hit innings - permitting just three base runners and striking out four. Because of a pitch count limit, Hughes was lifted before the top of the seventh inning and gave way to lefty Shawn Nottingham.

The first pitch Nottingham delivered was ripped into right field by Brennan Boesch to break up the no-hit bid. Casper Wells then walked before the pair were brought home by a two-run triple by Max Leon for the only runs of the game.

The Curve (0-3) will try to salvage the fourth and final game of the series on Saturday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. Right-hander Mike Crotta (NR) will make his first start of the year for Altoona while Erie (3-0) counters with right-hander Brooks Brown (NR). Radio coverage of the game begins at 1:50 p.m. on flagship station ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.

NOTES: Jim Negrych and Jose Tabata each extended their hitting streaks to three games...RHP Derek Hankins was placed on the Disabled List prior to the game with a stomach illness. RHP Josh Hill takes his place on the Curve roster.
