Harrisburg, Pa - The Altoona Curve tied their season high in hits and everyone except the pitchers had a hit in a 9-2 routing of the Harrisburg Senators (AA - Washington Nationals) on Friday night on City Island at Metro Bank Park.
Alex Presley extended his hitting streak to a league-best 15 games with a career night, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs in Altoona's fourth consecutive victory. Presley is the first Curve player to hit in 15 straight since Jason Delaney accomplished the feat in 2008. Presley joins not only Delaney but Chris Duffy, Kevin Sefcik and Shawn Garrett for third place in franchise history for longest hitting streak. The franchise record is 21 games held by Sefcik, who set the record in 2002.
Other offensive contributions in the contest were made by Josh Harrison (2-for-5), Matt Hague (2-for-5, RBI) and Hector Gimenez (3-for-5, 3 RBIs).
On the mound Derek Hankins (2-1) made start for Altoona in the spot of Mike Crotta who was recently promoted to Indianapolis (AAA). Hankins tossed 5.0 stellar innings of shutout baseball allowing just two hits.
The Curve (15-6) are now 5-2 in series' this season and will look for their third series sweep of the season on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the final game of the three-game stanza. The Curve will go up against Harrisburg (10-12) right-hander Stephen Strasburg (3-0, 0.52) while Altoona will counter with southpaw Justin Wilson (1-1, 6.57). Air time is 1:30 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and Altoona Curve Radio Network affiliates.
