
Adam Calderone Walk-Off Homer Lifts Fisher Cats

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(Manchester, NH)---Adam Calderone hit a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the New Hampshire Fisher Cats an improbable 10-9 come-from-behind win over the Reading Phillies before 5,229 Saturday afternoon at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
Calderone's home run capped a five-run bottom of the ninth inning against losing pitcher Michael Schwimer (0-1). Adam Loewen walked, Brad Emaus singled and Eric Thames (2-for-5, 2 HR, After Shawn Bowman walked, Calderone ended the game with his third home run of the season. New Hampshire (15-7) appeared headed to an easy win, taking a 5-1 lead to the top of the ninth inning when Reading (8-14) exploded for eight runs. Tagg Bozied drilled a three-run homer off reliever Tim Collins to the front of the Samuel Adams Bar and Grill to make it 5-4. Reading then moved in front against Danny Farquhar, tying the game on a bases-loaded walk to Tyson Gillies before Dominic Brown drilled a grand slam off the video board to put the Phillies up 9-5.
Vince Bongiovanni (2-0) got the final out of the ninth and earned the win for the Fisher Cats.
Earlier in the contest, New Hampshire staked starter Randy Boone to a 5-1 lead. Boone allowed one earned run in six innings, allowing five hits, walking one and striking out two.
Thames hit a two-run homer to the batters eye in centerfield to make it 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Then after two outs, Jonathan Jaspe (2-for-3), Jonathan Diaz and Darin Mastroianni (2-for-5, RBI) hit consecutive doubles for a 4-0 lead against Phillies starter Vance Worley. New Hampshire went up 5-1 when Diaz was hit-by-pitch by reliever Matt German with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Fisher Cats, winners of five straight games, look for a sweep of the Phillies on Sunday at 1:35pm. Radio coverage with Bob Lipman begins with Fisher Cats Pre-Game at 1:15pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network. The weekend weather guarantee continues. If the game time temperature is not at least 70 degrees, all fans in attendance will be able to turn in their game-used ticket stubs for a ticket to a future Monday-Wednesday, non-Portland Sea Dogs regular season game.
