Bowie, Md. - In a pivotal matchup with second place Altoona, the Baysox bats did not show up as Bowie was blanked by the Curve, 4-0. Baysox starter Jayson Aquino put up a valiant effort with a seven-inning, two-run outing, but after an 11-hit, eight-run performance last night the Baysox were only able to muster four hits.

Baltimore Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph continued to play with the Baysox on a Major League Rehab Assignment, batting second as the designated hitter. Joseph finished the game 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

The Curve got things started immediately off of Aquino. Kevin Newman hit a lead-off double to right field. After a sacrifice bunt from Anderson Feliz and a sacrifice fly from Edwin Espinal, Newman scored to give the Curve an early 1-0 lead.

Aquino settled down and held Altoona scoreless over the next five innings. However, with one out in the top of the sixth inning, Eric Wood hit a solo home run to left field to give Altoona a 2-0 lead.

Edwin Espinal led off the eighth inning with a double to left field off Baysox reliever Genison Reyes. Espinal moved to third base on a groundout and Harold Ramirez then replaced him as a pinch-hitter. Reese McGuire singled to right field to bring home a run and Stetson Allie plated a second run with a two-out single to left field to make the score 4-0.

Aquino threw seven innings and allowed two runs on five hits while striking out four and walking two batters in the loss. Reyes threw one inning and allowed two runs on four hits while striking out one batter. Baysox reliever Jimmy Yacabonis threw a scoreless ninth inning, striking out one batter.

Altoona starter Brandon Waddell threw seven shutout innings in the win, allowing just three hits while striking out eight and walking just one Baysox batter.
