
Curt Miller Named August WNBA Coach of the Month

Uncasville, Conn. - The WNBA announced today, Connecticut Sun Head Coach Curt Miller was named WNBA Coach of the Month for August. Miller also received the award in July of 2017 when the team posted a 7-2 record for the month.
During the month of August, the Connecticut Sun remained undefeated (7-0) and extended its win streak to nine. The nine-game win streak dates back to Friday, July 9 and is the best streak in franchise history since 2006.
The Sun tipped off the month with a road win over the Dallas Wings (80-59) before returning to Uncasville, CT for a five-game home stand. While home at Mohegan Sun Arena, the Sun defeated the Minnesota Lynx twice, the Las Vegas Aces once and the Los Angeles Sparks twice. Connecticut then traveled to D.C. to face Washington on Tuesday, Aug. 31.
With the team's 85-75 victory over the Mystics, Miller amassed his 110th ¬â¹ victory as a head coach in the WNBA. He currently sits one win behind Marynell Meadors (111) at 15th on the WNBA All-Time Coaches' Wins List.
In three of the Sun's seven games in August, the team held their opponent under 70 points. Connecticut has kept its opponent to 70 or less points 12 times this season. Additionally, the Sun have defeated opponents by a margin of 10 or more, 15 times.
Connecticut sits first in the league with a 21-6 overall record and a 13-1 record at home. On Tuesday, Aug. 24, the Sun defeated the Las Vegas Aces, 76-62 and clinched a spot in the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year.
