Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - A grand slam by Jacksonville's Ryan Curry in the eighth broke a 3-3 tie and catapulted the Suns to a 9-4 victory over the Lookouts in Sunday afternoon action at AT&T Field.

Lookouts starting pitcher Rubby De La Rosa experienced some early turbulence, yielding two runs in the first inning. Lorenzo Scott led off with a walk, and consecutive singles from Kevin Mattison and Vinny Rottino set up a two-RBI single from Matt Dominguez.

Chattanooga manufactured a run in the bottom portion of the first inning. Dee Gordon garnered a walk and advanced to second on an Elian Herrera sacrifice bunt. Gordon then collected his 50th stolen base of the season by swiping third base. Jerry Sands followed with a sacrifice fly to put the score at 2-1.

Alex Garabedian put the Lookouts on top in the fourth inning by blasting a two-run shot over the left field wall.

The Suns promptly tied up the game in the fifth inning. Scott doubled and proceeded to third on a Mattison sacrifice bunt. Former Lookout Vinny Rottino followed with an RBI single to knot up the score, 3-3.

Jacksonville broke the tie in a big way in the top of the eighth innings, as Ryan Curry hit a grand slam to give the Suns a 7-3 lead.

Two more insurance runs were added to the Suns' total in the ninth on a Brandon Tripp double.

A run-resulting ground out from Eddy Perez gave the Lookouts one final run to put the score at its final resting point, 9-4.

Garrett Parcell (5-7), who pitched two shutout innings in relief, was credited with the win for the Diamond Jaxx.

The Chattanooga Lookouts will hit the road on Tuesday to finish the regular season with a three-game series against the Mobile BayBears and four-game series against the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx.
