Randall Delgado dominates from the mound and gives the Braves a win over the Mudcats
Pearl, MS- In the third game of a four game set, the Mississippi Braves defeated the Carolina Mudcats 6-2 to go up in the series two games to one with one game remaining. Pitcher, Randall Delgado, earned the win as he had a perfect game through six innings and struck out nine Carolina batters. Tyler Pastornicky and Christian Colonel both homered in the win. Mississippi was able to score a 1st inning run to take the early lead. Shortstop, Tyler Pastornicky, smoked a 1-0 pitch from Jordan Hotchkiss over the left field wall to give Mississippi the lead. It was Pastornicky's second home run in the last three games. Pastornicky picked up another base hit in the 4th inning and then left the game. With the score 1-0, Mississippi, the Braves came up in the 5th inning looking to advance their lead. Antoan Richardson blooped in a singled to score Dan Nelson to give the Braves a 2-0 lead. Two batters later, Eric Duncan came up with the bases loaded and singled to right field two drive in two more runs. After the 5th inning, the Braves led 4-0. Heading into the top of the 7th, Randall Delgado had retired eighteen straight Mudcats batters. Kris Negron popped a bunt down the first base line that landed in fair territory and turned into a bunt base hit. It broke up the perfect game and started the only inning that would see the Mudcats score. With the bases loaded, Chris Denove walked to drive in a run. That was followed by Jake Kahaulelio being hit by a pitch to score another run and cut the lead to 4-2. Carolina would not score again as Yeliar Castro escaped without any other damage being done. In the 8th, Christian Colonel smashed a homer over the left field wall to make the score 6-2. Mississippi was able to cruise behind reliever Richard Sullivan the rest of the way. The Braves now lead the series two games to one with one game left. Tomorrow's game will be he final game of the series and the final home game of the season for Mississippi. The Braves will pitch RHP Julio Teheran (2-2; 3.34) against Carolina's LHP Travis Webb (6-8; 4.93). The first pitch will be at 7:05.
