Sarnia Sting News Release

After seven seasons with the Saginaw Spirit, Sarnia native, Leigh Cunningham will join the Sarnia Sting and Blackburn Radio in Sarnia. Cunningham will assume the position of play by play broadcaster on CHOK Radio in Sarnia, alongside color-commentator, Patrick Desrochers.

Once finished with the Spirit, Leigh will also join the Sting Front Office as a Corporate Sales Executive.

Cunningham's OHL broadcasting career began in 1998, doing play-by-play for the London Knights. Most recently Cunningham was with the Saginaw Spirit Organization as the club's Director of Broadcasting and Communications. He has broadcast over 1,000 OHL games, including four championship series, four conference finals and the OHL All-Star Classic. Cunningham also broadcast the first OHL outdoor game at Comerica Park in 2013.

When asked about the transition, Cunningham comments, "I made a number of lifelong friends here [Saginaw], and with that I am very much looking forward to the future back home in Sarnia. I again will have the privilege of working with some great people with the Sting and Blackburn Radio, many of whom I know very well and will be reacquainted with professionally."
