Windsor Spitfires News Release

(Peterborough) After getting pulled on Thursday night, John Cullen knew he needed a better effort in Peterborough.

The 20-year-old goaltender delivered, making 42 stops on Saturday night at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. But our guys couldn't muster enough offense to back him up, in a 3-1 loss to the Petes.

Former Spitfire Austin Watson had a goal and an assist and Lino Martschini added two assists for the home side.

Zack MacQueen (7) had the only goal for Windsor (11-12-2-1) in his return from a 10-game suspension.

Cullen made 15 saves to keep the first period scoreless. But Watson eventually opened the scoring on the powerplay midway through the second period.

Essex native Matt Puempel made it 2-0 with his 15th of the year early in the third period, before MacQueen cut the lead in half four minutes later.

Cullen went back to work, making save after save to keep the lead at just a goal.

But another former Spitfire, Andrew Yogan, put the game out of reach with his 7th of the year at 13:45.

We're right back at it tomorrow evening, with a visit to the GM Centre in Oshawa. Gametime is 6:05.
