FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Minnesota Twins INF/OF Michael Cuddyer is the lone Fort Wayne alum to be selected to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game slated for tonight in Phoenix. It is his first career appearance in the mid-summer classic.

Cuddyer, 32, was a first-round pick by the Twins in the 1997 draft. He made his pro debut with Fort Wayne the next year and batted .276 with 12 homers and 81 RBI. As the team's starting shortstop, he set the franchise record for errors with 61; the record still stands today. Cuddyer moved to third base the next season and has been playing the corner infield and outfield positions ever since.

Cuddyer made his big-league debut in 2001. He put together a career year in 2009, swatting a career-high 32 homers to help the Twins to the playoffs. This year he is batting .298 with 13 home runs and 43 RBI.

Tickets are available for the series between the Tucson Padres (Triple-A San Diego Padres) and Las Vegas 51s (Triple-A Toronto Blue Jays) this weekend at Parkview Field. Order online at TinCaps.com, by phone at (260) 482-6400 or in person at the Parkview Field ticket office.
