Iowa Cubs News Release
The Iowa Cubs topped the Memphis Redbirds 3-2 Monday night at Principal Park in front of 7,337 fans and 248 dogs (it was dog day). Iowa starter Jon Leicester held the Redbirds to just two runs in seven innings as he picked up the win to improve to 2-7 on the year. Iowa closer Jermaine Van Buren picked up his 24th save of the year for the Cubs. Iowa's Ronny Cedeno drove in a pair of runs, including what turned out to be the game winning RBI in the seventh inning with a broken bat single that drove home Geovany Soto. The Cubs and Redbirds wrap up their four game series Tuesday night at Principal Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
