Cuban National Baseball Team Series Set for this Weekend

OTTAWA - The international series between the Cuban national baseball team and the Ottawa Champions is set for this weekend.

Despite unconfirmed reports, all official paperwork has been completed by the Cuban Baseball Federation and the team will arrive in Ottawa tomorrow for a three-game series against the Champions at RCGT Park that begins Friday, June 14.

"We're extremely pleased that everything is ready for Cuba to play the Champions," said Champions owner Miles Wolff. "This has always been one of the biggest series for our organization and I know our fans will appreciate the quality of baseball the Cuban team will bring."

Any tickets purchased in advance for the Cuban series will be regular price, but game-day prices will be as follows:

$16 for adults

$13 for seniors and students

$5 for kids ages 5-12

Kids age 5 and under get in free The three-game series will feature a number of exciting promotions:

Friday, June 14: Friday is $5 Budweiser night and kicks off a Cuban-themed weekend.

Saturday, June 15: Saturday is $5 Big Rig night and the Champions second fireworks night of the season. Miguel De Armas will also be performing authentic Cuban music outside the stadium from 6-7 p.m.

Sunday, June 16: In celebration of Father's Day, kids and their dads will be invited onto the field after the game to play catch together. The Cuban team will play 15 games in 17 days against teams in the Can-Am League between June 14-30.
