
CT Tigers Swept in the Double Header

Lowell, MA - The Lowell Spinners (8-6) swept the double header against the Connecticut Tigers (4-11) Tuesday night at Edward A. Lachauer Field.
In game one of the double header the Spinners defeated the Tigers by a score of 5-2. In the first inning the Spinners scored two runs highlighted by DH Kevin Mager (1-1) RBI double down the right field line that scored SS Tzu-Wei Lin (2-4) to take a 1-0 lead.
RF Aaron King (2-4) added an RBI double that scored Mager to put the Spinners up 2-0 in the first inning. In the second inning Lin hit an RBI single that scored 2B Cleuluis Rondon (2-3) to make the game 3-0. The Spinners added two more runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a solo homerun from King to take a 4-0 lead.
The Tigers were held to two hits in the game and left five runners on base. The Tigers scored two runs in the seventh inning following an error by Spinners 1B Nick Moore (0-4) to make the game 5-2.
Spinners RHP Simon Mercedes (1-0) pitched six innings allowing no runs on one hit. RHP Buck Farmer (0-1) suffered his first loss of the season pitching two innings allowing three runs on six hits.
In game two the Spinners defeated the CT Tigers 3-2. In the seventh inning with the bases loaded and no outs PH Carlos Asuaje (1-1) hit an RBI single that scored SS Cleuluis Rondon (2-3) to give the Spinners 3-2 win.
The Tigers got on the scoreboard in the first inning following an RBI triple by LF Raphael Rhymes (2-3) that scored 1B Ben Verlander (0-3) to put the Tigers in front 1-0. Spinners Manuel Margot hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning to tie the score at 1-1.
In the fourth inning RF Williams Jerez (1-3) hit an RBI double that scored Moore to take a 2-1 lead. The Tigers tied the game in the seventh inning after an RBI single by C Austin Green (1-3) to make the game 2-2.
The Tigers wrap up their three-game series with Lowell tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. In the series finale, RHP Jonathon Crawford (0-0, 0.00) takes the mound for the Tigers.
