Vancouver Canadians News Release

Eugene, OR- With three runs in the seventh inning and three more in the ninth, the Vancouver Canadians put together one of their more complete efforts of the season to win their fourth straight contest, an 8-4 victory over the Eugene Emeralds.

2016 first round draft pick RHP T.J. Zeuch got the start for the C's, going four strong innings and stiking out five, his only blemish being a two-run home run off the bat of SS Zack Short. The C's got those runs back in the third inning when RF Joshua Palacios and LF Jacob Anderson had RBI base hits.

After Eugene scored a run in the home half of the fifth, to regain the lead, the C's pressured again in the seventh and came through with three runs to take their first lead of the game. Anderson came home to score on an errant throw back to the pitcher from the Eugene catcher C Tyler Payne, and then SS Yeltsin Gudino hit a clutch two-run single to put the C's up 5-3. Gudino has now reached base in 18 straight games.

Eugene threatened in the eighth and scored once to make it a one-run game, but closer RHP Griffin Glaude left the bases loaded to keep the Canadians in front. Vancouver scored three more times in the ninth to add some breathing room, with Glaude recording the final three outs to close out the 8-4 win. C's pitchers struck out 14 Eugene hitters in the contest.

With the win, Vancouver wins a season-high fourth straight game to improve to 4-3 in the second half and 20-25 on the season, while Eugene falls to 2-5 and 30-15. With Everett's loss on Thursday night, the C's are now one game back of first place in the North Division standings.

The two teams will rematch Friday in the second game of the five-game series at PK Park in Eugene. First pitch goes at 7:05 p.m. on canadiansbaseball.com. The Canadians will return back home to Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Tuesday, August 9 for a crucial three-game series against first-place Everett.

Tickets are available by calling 604.872.5232, online at www.canadiansbaseball.com or by calling the Nat Bailey Stadium Box Office at 4601 Ontario Street, Vancouver, B.C
