
Cruz and Randall Earn Monthly Honors

Louisville, KY â Jacob Cruz and Scott Randall have been named the Louisville Bats' hitter and pitcher of the month respectively for April. It marks the first time either player has won the award.
Cruz, who is 2nd in the International League in batting average (.402) and RBI (25), and T-4th in HR with six, hit .375 with five home runs and 22 RBI for the month of April. Cruz also hit the Bats first grand slam of the season on April 13 vs. Durham and owns the longest hitting streak by a Louisville player so far this season at ten.
Randall, who has won 17 straight decisions dating back to August 24, 2001, went 3-0 with a 3.43 ERA in five games (three starts) during the month of April. During those five games, Randall walked only one while striking out 14. His winning streak is the longest in the minor leagues since Geraldo Padua won 20 straight between June 28, 1997 and May 15, 1999 for three different affiliates in the New York Yankees system
Both players will be honored prior to this Friday's game versus the Pawtucket Red Sox starting at 7:15 p.m.
