Crushers Fall in Series Finale

Florence, Ky. - After the Crushers ended their four game losing streak, they looked to take the series against the Y'alls on Sunday afternoon.

Lake Erie (9-12) led first but the Y'alls (7-13) scored four unanswered runs to take the series finale, 4-2.

Danny Perez drove an RBI single up the middle, scoring Kokko Figueiredo in the second inning, 1-0 Crushers.

It didn't take long for Florence to answer with their own run. Joe Lytle recorded a sac-fly that scored Anthony Brocato who reached on base via an error by the second baseman Flete, 1-1.

The Y'alls scored one run in the third inning, Alberti Chavez lined an RBI double that scored Ray Zuberer, 2-1. Florence continued to hit the ball in the fifth inning scoring two runs, consecutive doubles by Axel Johnson and Alberti Chavez extended the lead to three, 4-1.

Edgar Martinzez provided a great outing for the Y'alls, allowing one run in five innings and striking out four. He was the winning pitcher.

With two innings left to mount a comeback, the Crushers plated one run in the eighth inning. Solo home run from Bryant Flete, 4-2.

Although the offense for Lake Erie had its troubles, Merrick Crouse, out of the bullpen, kept the game close by throwing two shutout innings [sixth and seventh inning] and striking out two batters.

That was it for the Crushers, the closer for Florence Joe Doughtery recorded his third save of the season while striking out two hitters.

Lake Erie returns to action on Tuesday, June 7th for the start of a six game homestand. The first opponent will be the New Jersey Jackals, first pitch at 7:05.
