MIDLAND, Mich. - ESPN 100.9-FM (WLUN) is pleased to announce a weekly CrunchTime segment featuring former University of Michigan defensive back and Super Bowl champion Cato June. The weekly segment, which will air every Monday at 4:30 p.m. EST, begins Monday, September 9.
June, who graduated from Anacostia HS in the Washington D.C. area and played his college ball at Michigan from 1998-2002, will join CrunchTime host Jared Sandler every week to provide analysis of Michigan and Michigan State football, along with commentary on the Detroit Lions and the National Football League.
Throughout the 2013-14 season, the CrunchTime audience will get an inside perspective from June, who helped lead the Indianapolis Colts to a victory in Super Bowl XLI. The Wash. D.C. resident, who was raised in Muskogee, Okla., was drafted by the Colts in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL draft.
June was an All-Pro outside linebacker for Indianapolis in 2005, one season prior to winning the Super Bowl. He played for the Colts, Houston Texans, Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the course of a seven-year playing career in professional football.
The Oklahoma native is now the head football coach at his alma mater, Anacostia HS. Along with coaching, he also oversees the June Foundation, a non-profit entity created to expose disadvantaged youth to the business side of sport.
"We're thrilled to have Cato join CrunchTime to provide his insights for the weekly battles on the gridiron," Sandler said. "Our listeners are passionate about their football teams, so it's exciting to launch a segment with someone like Cato June, who shares that passion, while providing unique insight we think our CrunchTime listeners will enjoy."
As a part of the weekly segment, June will provide listeners with an informed perspective from his days playing in the Big Ten and the NFL. Fans will also be able to interact with June during the segment by calling the ESPN 100.9-FM studios or engaging on ESPN 100.9's various social media platforms.
