Crunch Announce Roster Moves

Syracuse, NY (January 12, 2012) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Anaheim Ducks have assigned goaltender Iiro Tarkki to the Crunch and reassigned left wing Josh Brittain to the Elmira Jackals (ECHL). Additionally the Crunch have loaned defensemen Nick Schaus to Elmira and Ryan McGinnis to the Florida Everblads (ECHL).

Tarkki, 26, made his NHL debut and recorded his first career NHL win in the Ducks 7-4 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on January 8, 2012. Tarkki has played in 23 games for the Crunch this season. The 6'2'', 190 lb, goaltender has a goals against average of 2.85 and a 0.916 save percentage. The Rauma, Finland native spent the 2009-11 seasons playing for the Espoo Blues of the Finnish Elite League. Tarkki was signed as a free agent by the Ducks on May 6, 2011.

Brittain, 22, has played in 14 games with the Crunch this season and recorded one assist and six penalty minutes. The, Milton, Ontario native has played in 27 career AHL games totaling two points (both assists) and 54 penalty minutes. He has also played in 38 career ECHL games with the Jackals collecting 11 points (3g, 8a).

Schaus, 25, has played in 20 games with the Crunch this season recording four points (1g, 3a). The Orchard Park, NY native, has appeared in 101 career AHL games totaling 25 points (5g, 20a). The defenseman also played in 148 NCAA games for the University of Massachusetts-Lowell collecting 65 points (10g, 55a).

McGinnis, 24, has played in 11 games with the Crunch this season going scoreless with six penalty minutes. The Flint, MI, native has played in 84 career AHL games with Manitoba, Norfolk and Syracuse collecting 11 points (1g, 10a). McGinnis has appeared in 14 games with the Everblades this season where he tallied five assists.

The Crunch travel to Binghamton to face the defending Calder Cup Champion Senators on January 13. The team returns home on January 20, 2012 to host the Norfolk Admirals at the War Memorial Arena.
