Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters outhit the first place West Virginia Black Bears and were able to hold off a ninth inning comeback to win the opening game of the series, 9-6.
The Crosscutters tallied eight hits in the win. Isaiah Byars was 2-4 including a double and two RBIs. Freddy Rojas, Jr. doubled in his 2-3 night with a run scored. Jose Gonzalez had one hit, a two-run home run. Gonzalez also had two runs scored on the night. Brayland Skinner, Adam Becker, Will Fuenning, and Jalen Greer all contributed with an RBI a piece.
Williamsport started Ruddy Gomez and he went four innings, allowing two runs on two hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Davis Burgin allowed three runs on two hits, and recorded a strikeout in his inning and a third. Kaleb Sophy threw an inning allowing one run on no hits, one walk and one strikeout. Connor Langrell threw a scoreless inning where he allowed two hits and a walk but stuck out one to collect his seventh save of the season.
