San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, TX-Mere minutes before yesterday's game the San Angelo Colts activated both leftfielder Jason Crosland and shortstop Butch Ballez from the inactive list. Crosland had been nursing a sore left wrist, which he hurt on a check-swing and a diving attempt for a flyball during the Coastal Bend series from June 2-5. He had missed seven-straight games before returning to the lineup last night. Ballez, meanwhile, had been suffering from a bruised shin, which he hurt during spring training. He was placed on the inactive list June 5 and missed eight games in the process.

Both were having outstanding seasons at the time of their injuries. Crosland, who is the club's all-time homerun leader, was batting .343 with four homers and 12 RBI in eight games. Ballez, through nine games, was hitting a whopping .459 with two homers and eight RBI.

Crosland's return was especially nice for San Angelo as he homered twice and drove in six runs in the Colts 17-9 win over Amarillo.

To make room, the Colts placed designated hitter Jason Landreth on the inactive list with a strained hamstring and bruised foot. Landreth is batting .446 with three homers and 18 RBI.

The Colts also released shortstop Jerry Fisher from the roster. Fisher, a Mayperl, TX native, hit .207 in eight games with one RBI.

The Colts are currently in Laredo for a four-game series against the Broncos. Alex Morales will make his season debut for the Colts tomorrow against a pitcher yet to be determined for Laredo. The game can be heard on 1260 KKSA with the pregame show getting things started at 7:15. First pitch is at 7:30.

The Colts return home on Friday, June 18 for game one of a four-game series against the Rio Grande White Wings beginning at 7:05. The contest will be the first of an eight-game homestand over nine days, which runs through June 26. June 18 is also Travel Bag Night presented by State Farm.
