Broncos Come Back From Down 4 and Give RHP Eric Eden's First Professional Win

The Broncos (7-12) came back from a 4-0 deficit to defeat the Colts (8-11) at veterans Field and pick up their second win in a row, a game where RHP Eric Eden (1-1) picked up his first professional win.

RHP Eric Eden was on the mound for his fourth start of the season; he would face off against RHP Alex Morales (0-1) of the Colts.

Eden's struggles with walks continued as he issued one in the first two innings of the ball game. It wouldn't hurt him until the top of the third. On two singles and a walk the Colts loaded the Bases. After a fielder's choice put one away. Eden struck out Adam Hale for the second out of the inning. Jason Crossland hit a grand slam; his sixth home run of the year that gave the Colts a 4-0 lead.

The Broncos, in the bottom of the third picked up Eden. Jason Diaz singled and stole second and third base. Kenny Gilbert knocked him home to make the score 4-1 Colts. Gilbert stole second and came home to score on the Nick Mahin RBI single and the score was 4-2 Colts. Finally Dustin Spruill hit a SAC fly to bring home Mahin from third after a passed ball moved him there and the score after three innings was 4-3 Colts.

In the bottom of the fourth the Broncos would add to their lead. Ryan Flynn would reach on an error and Diaz hit a double to plate Flynn and tie the score at 4-4. Flynn stole second and then Wolgamot reached on an error and Kenny Gilbert came up and picked up his second RBI of the game and the Broncos led 5-4.

Eden battled out of the fifth with two on and one away he got a double play ball to end the inning and the Broncos thanked their starter.

In the bottom of the fifth the Broncos tacked on three more runs. Thennis reached on an error followed by Gabe Memmert's second home run of the year to give the Broncos a 7-5 lead. To round out the scoring David Fowler reached on an infield single, then stole second, and a passed ball moved him to third. Fowler came home on Jason Diaz's ground out and the score was 8-4 Broncos.

The Colts would surge in the seventh. Eden started the inning, but after allowing a single and an RBI double to make the score 8-5 Broncos, manager Dan Firova went to the bullpen. Jeff Jamnik (0-1) came into the game and allowed another RBI double to make the score 8-6 Broncos. Jamnik would retire the side and then get the Colts 1-2-3 in the top of the eighth.

In the top of the ninth Franklyn Gracesqui (0-0) made his first appearance for the Broncos. Gracesqui was signed today by the Broncos and with the bases loaded and two out and Jason Crossland up to the plate he induced the line out to first baseman Nick Mahin and secure Eric Eden's first professional win of his career and pick up his first save of 2010.

The Broncos are back in action tomorrow night against the Colts in game two of the three game series. First pitch at 7:35 PM on Two Dollar Tuesday at veterans Field.
