STOCKTON, Calif. - Coco Crisp did his best to try and help the Stockton Ports to a win on Tuesday night, but the Modesto Nuts were able to rally when down to their final out. With two outs in the top of the ninth, the Nuts plated three runs to tie the game and got a home run from Wilfredo Rodriguez in the 10th to send the Ports to a 7-6 loss in extra innings.

For the third straight game the Ports were the first team to score. With one on and one out in the third, Crisp delivered a two-run homer to right to give the Ports the initial lead.

Ports starter Chris Lamb, after keeping Modesto off the scoreboard through four, gave up a leadoff triple to Emerson Jimenez in the fifth, Jimenez scored on an ensuing groundout to short to cut the Ports lead to 2-1. It was the only run allowed by Lamb who would get a no-decision, going five innings and allowing five hits while striking out four.

Stockton built on its lead in the fifth. Yairo Munoz led off with a home run to left, his first home run with the Ports, to make it 3-1. Two batters later, Crisp singled to right and Vertigan followed with a single to right-center to put two aboard. Tyler Marincov came up next and delivered a two-run double to left to make it a 5-1 lead and knock Nuts starter Johendi Jiminian from the contest.

Jiminian would receive a no-decision, going 4.1 innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits while striking out four.

Pat Venditte entered the game on a Major League rehab assignment in the sixth and, pitching both right and left-handed, would retire six of the seven batters he faced over two innings. The one batter he didn't set down, Jimenz, hit a solo homer to left to cut the Ports lead to 5-2. Vendette would strike out three batters over two innings and throw 25 pitches, 16 for strikes.

Stockton got the run back in the bottom of the seventh as Crisp led off and hit his second home run of the night, this time off Rayan Gonzalez to make it a 6-2 Stockton lead. It was the only run allowed by Gonzalez in his lone inning of work.

Modesto inched closer in the eighth facing Sam Bragg. With two outs and the bases empty, Ryan McMahon doubled to left and scored on an ensuing RBI single by Drew Weeks to cut the Ports lead to 6-3. It was the only run allowed by Bragg in his lone inning of work.

Corey Walter took over for Stockton in the ninth in his first save opportunity of the season. Walter yielded three straight singles to start the inning which loaded the bases with nobody out. Walter then went on to get back-to-back strikeouts of Tapia and Michael Benjamin. Facing Dillon Thomas, Walter would go on to record a strikeout but on a passed ball, Thomas reached and a run scored to make it 6-4 and keep the game alive. McMahon came up next and delivered a game-tying two-run single to center to knot the contest at 6-6.

Walter suffered a blown save as he allowed three unearned runs on four hits while striking out four.

Matt Pierpont (5-3), after pitching a perfect eighth, stayed in the game to pitch the ninth and gave up a one-out single to Trent Gilbert. After Crisp walked, a groundout put runners at second and third with two outs. Marincov came up and struck out looking to end the inning and send the game to extra innings.

Joel Seddon (7-7), who suffered the loss on Monday night, came on to pitch the 10th and gave up a leadoff home run to Rodriguez to give the Nuts a 7-6 lead. Seddon would suffer the loss for a second straight game.

Matt Carasiti (SV, 13) came on to pitch the bottom of the 10th and, after giving up a one-out single to Jake Nottingham, got B.J. Boyd to hit into a game-ending 6-4-3 double play to pick up his 13th save of the season.

The loss was Stockton's second loss of the season when leading going into the ninth inning. Crisp finished the night 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI.

The Ports and Nuts wrap up their three-game series on Wednesday night at Banner Island Ballpark. Dylan Covey (6-6, 3.82 ERA) makes the start for Stockton, opposed by Modesto right-hander Antonio Senzatela (7-5, 2.40 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. PDT.
