CIRCLE OF HONOR FINALISTS
#3 DEF Mike Clark (1996-2003)
MLS stats: 221 games, 3 goals, 13 assists
All competitions: 265 games, 3 goals, 17 assists
A durable and rugged defender, Clark spent his entire eight-year MLS career with the Crew. A two-time MLS All-Star (2000 and 2001), Clark's 221 MLS games and 18,942 minutes are second to only Chad Marshall in Crew history. Clark started every single MLS Cup Playoff match and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match played during his tenure, including the 2002 Open Cup Final that brought the Crew its first championship.
#2 DEF Frankie Hejduk (2003-2010)
MLS stats: 147 games, 7 goals, 16 assists
All competitions: 171 games, 9 goals, 18 assists
A high-energy leader and two-time FIFA World Cup veteran, Hejduk captained the Crew to the 2008 MLS Cup and Supporters' Shield, as well as the 2009 Supporters' Shield. He was also a member of the 2004 Shield-winning squad. A five-time MLS All-Star, Hejduk scored the iconic goal that sealed the Crew's 3-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls in MLS Cup 2008. Hejduk also represented the Crew on the international stage, earning 85 caps with the U.S. Men's National Team. Upon his retirement from soccer after the 2011 season - in which he won another MLS Cup with the LA Galaxy - Hejduk returned to Columbus as the Crew's Brand Ambassador, where he continues to work tirelessly to promote the club and the sport in our community.
#10 MF Brian Maisonneuve (1996-2004)
MLS stats: 172 games, 23 goals, 37 assists
All competitions: 208 games, 25 goals, 41 assists
A sure-tackling midfielder with offensive skills, Maisonneuve spent his entire nine-year MLS career with the Crew. An admired and respected teammate, he was a part of the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and 2004 Supporters' Shield teams. On September 7, 1996, Maisonneuve recorded the first hat-trick in club history in a 5-1 win at Kansas City. Fighting through severe ankle injuries through much of his career, Maisonneuve persevered to earn three MLS All-Star nods. Maisonneuve also represented the Crew as a member of the U.S. Men's National Team 1996 Olympic and 1998 FIFA World Cup squads.
#7 FWD Guillermo Barros Schelotto (2007-2010)
MLS stats: 102 games, 33 goals, 41 assists
All competitions: 118 games, 36 goals, 48 assists
A legend at Boca Juniors in Argentina, Schelotto came to Columbus in 2007 and his championship-winning pedigree soon rubbed off on the Crew. Schelotto was named to the MLS Best XI in 2007, and not only did he repeat that feat in 2008, he was also named League MVP and MLS Cup MVP as the Crew won both the Supporters' Shield and MLS Cup. He recorded a team-record 19 assists in 2008, which is still the second-most in League history. He added six assists in the postseason, including a trio in the 3-1 win over New York in the MLS Cup Final. In 2009, Schelotto won the team's Golden Boot with 12 goals as the Black & Gold won another Supporters' Shield. He led the team with nine goals and eight assists in 2010, as the team reached the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final. Earning All-Star honors each of his four years with the Crew, he remains sixth on the club's all-time scoring list and fourth in assists, despite ranking 17thÃÂ in games played among field players.
#19 MF Robert Warzycha (1996-2002)
MLS stats: 160 games, 19 goals, 61 assists
All competitions: 184 games, 22 goals, 71 assists
Warzycha will eventually be a double-qualifier, meeting the thresholds as both a player and a coach. However, with his coaching career ongoing in his native Poland, he is currently only eligible for his playing pursuits. He is the Crew's all-time leader in both assists (61) and coaching victories (70, tied with Tom Fitzgerald.) Known for his tenacity and crossing ability, Warzycha was nicknamed "The Polish Rifle" due to his free kick-taking prowess. A two-time MLS All-Star and the Crew's team MVP in 2000, Warzycha was a part of every trophy-winning Crew team to date, spanning three different roles. His final act as a player was to make a goal line clearance in stoppage-time to preserve the Crew's 1-0 victory over the LA Galaxy in the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final. As an Assistant Coach, he won the 2004 and 2008 Supporters' Shields, plus the 2008 MLS Cup. Then, in his first full season as Head Coach, he led the Crew to the 2009 Supporters' Shield. With the Crew, Warzycha became the only man to both play and coach at least 150 games for the same MLS team.
