Columbus Crew SC News Release
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Thursday, September 29) - Columbus Crew General Manager Mark McCullers and Radio Sol President Luis Orozco announced today that Crew Assistant Coach Eduardo "Eddie" Carvacho will host "Pasion de Gol (Passion for Goals)," an hour long soccer show every Thursday from 5-6 p.m. on Spanish radio station Radio Sol, 1550-AM. The first show airs today, Sept. 29.
Radio Sol is also the Spanish radio play-by-play home for all Crew home games.
The show will be geared toward The Crew and Major League Soccer, as well as the numerous Hispanic players, coaches and administrators around the league and country.
"This is an exciting opportunity for me to communicate and truly outreach to our Hispanic community," said Carvacho. "I want to thank Radio Sol and The Crew for the chance to fulfill a dream of mine. Having a forum to talk about soccer and connect with the people of Columbus will be exciting."
The Crew hosts Chivas USA at Crew Stadium on Saturday, October 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the final regular season home game of the year. Saturday's game also marks the first time that expansion team and Mexican-owned Chivas will visit Columbus.
The Crew (10-14-4, 34 pts.) is 6-4-2 under Interim Head Coach Robert Warzycha after defeating Real Salt Lake 2-1 on the road on Saturday. Chivas USA (3-21-5, 14 pts.) sits in last place in the West after a 3-1 home loss to Colorado on Saturday. Columbus is nine points out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with just four games left.
Saturday's game will be televised nationally on HDNet, in high definition. It can be heard in English on 103.9, TED-FM, or in Spanish on AM-1550, Radio Sol. The game can be heard on-line in English and Spanish at TheCrew.com and MSLNet.com.
