New England Revolution News Release

The Eastern Conference leading New England Revolution (16-6-7, 55 pts.) host the Western Conference leading San Jose Earthquakes (16-4-9, 57 pts.) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 1 at Gillette Stadium. While both teams have already clinched a playoff berth, the match holds ramifications for both clubs in their hunt for the Supporter's Shield, the award given to the MLS team with the best regular season record. The game also is important for New England in trying to clinch home-field advantage through the playoffs. With a win against San Jose and a D.C. United tie or draw this weekend, the Revs would gain top-seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Revs can also clinch home-field advantage with a tie against San Jose and a United loss and a Chicago Fire tie or loss. With Revs a victory and a D.C. victory, New England could finish no lower than second place in the Eastern Conference.

Saturday night's match will be broadcast live on WB56 and can be heard on WEEI 850 AM, as well as streaming live on revolutionsoccer.net.

The New England Revolution announced on Wednesday that all fans buying or renewing Revolution Center Circle Membership season tickets from today through Tuesday, November 15 will receive significant savings over normal season ticket prices. The special, limited-time prices for the 20-game 2006 season package are $360 (Cat. I), $270 (Cat. II) and $180 (Cat. III). For 2006, all Revolution Center Circle Members will receive free parking for games at Gillette Stadium with their season tickets.

New England Revolution forward Taylor Twellman today was named the September Honda MLS Player of the Month. The Revs striker scored five goals and added an assist in the four games he played in during the month, making him the League's current leading scorer with 16 goals. Twellman, who has been named MLS Player of the Week three times this season, earns his second career Player of the Month award (May - 2002).
