HICKORY, N.C. - The Hickory Crawdads hammered home five runs in the eighth inning for a come-from-behind, 7-6, win against the Charleston RiverDogs before 2,020 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Thursday night. The Crawdads have now won three in a row against Charleston, including consecutive comeback wins in the last two days.

The RiverDogs (5-10) got off to an early start, pushing across five runs in the first inning against Hickory starter RHP Neil Ramirez, knocking him out of the game before he could get out of the inning. Charleston only mustered one more run on one hit over the remaining eight innings.

Hickory (8-7) began to chip away at the 5-0 deficit in the second, when DH Ed Koncel blasted a home run to left off of Charleston starter RHP Kelvin Perez, to make it 5-1. However, the RiverDogs accounted for that run with a homer of their own in the fourth by LF DeAngelo Mack against RHP Hector Nelo. It was the lone run and hit that Nelo allowed in his 3.1 innings of relief.

LHP Chad Bell and RHP Andrew Doyle (1-0, 9.45) followed Nelo with a combined four innings of hitless baseball. Doyle picked up the win for the Crawdads, dealing a scoreless eighth inning of relief.

The 'Dads cut the lead to 6-2 in the sixth when CF Miguel Velazquez tripled to right-center and scored on a sac-fly by RF Jared Prince.

SS Leury Garcia started the bottom of the eighth on a telling note, launching a home run to left off LHP Francisco Rondon. Velazquez followed with a walk and came in on a double laced to left-center by Prince, who has five RBIs in the series. 3B Matt West then took Rondon yard with a game-tying two-run homer, bringing the score to 6-6.

RHP Gabriel Tatis (0-1, 4.32 ERA) got the call to try to stop the damage, but wasn't up to the challenge. After walking Koncel, 2B Edwin Garcia smacked a two-out double to right to knock in the winning run.

RHP Josh Lueke came on in the ninth and struck out the side for his South Atlantic League leading fifth save of the season. Tatis received the loss for Charleston.
