ROME, GA - Trayce Thompson has made a quick impact on his new team, leading them to their seventh win in nine games with three hits in a 9-3 victory against the Rome Braves on Thursday night.

Thompson slugged his third home run in six games played this season, a three-run shot off starter David Hale in the third inning to cap off a five-run inning to give the Intimidators a 6-2 lead. Thompson also had a single and an RBI-double on the game as well as scoring twice.

Hale (0-2) lasted five, allowing nine hits and six runs before being removed from the ballgame. The Intimidators started Matt Wickswat and he produced a fine outing. Wickswat (1-2) scattered 10 hits over six innings and allowed just three runs. He was aided on two occasions on double plays, one of which was superbly turned by Daniel Wagner. Ryan Buch and Zach Piccola provided scoreless relief.

The Intimidators (7-8) smacked 12 hits on the night, Ian Gac had two, both doubles with two RBI. Wagner and Miguel Gonzalez also had two hits each.

The win is the second in three games against Rome (7-8) this series after losing all four at home in the season opening series. The Intimidators are 5-1 on this road trip and they look to get back to an even .500 on Friday night against the Braves. Matt Hopps (0-1) will start for the second time at 7 pm against Chris Masters (0-1) who has not allowed an earned run all season long.
