(HICKORY, N.C.) The Hickory Crawdads pounded out 13 hits and broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning and a three-run fifth on their way to an 11-2 win over the Lexington Legends Saturday night.

Matt Duffy's leadoff homer in the second inning gave the Legends a 1-0 lead, but the Crawdads evened the score in the third on a single by Kevin Torres, a forceout and a double by Jordan Akins.

In the Hickory fourth, Zach Cone hit a solo homer with one out to put the Crawdads up 2-1. Drew Robinson flied out for the second out, but Jeremy Williams doubled and Torres walked. Akins singled to score Williams, and after Akins stole second, Jhonny Gomez hit his first home run of the year, a three-run shot, giving Hickory a 6-1 lead.

The Crawdads added three more runs in the fifth inning. Euris Quezada relieved Legends starter Jonas Dufek to start the fifth. He gave up a leadoff single to Hanser Alberto but retired the next two hitters. A passed ball charged to catcher Mike Kvasnicka allowed Alberto to reach second. Drew Robinson drew a walk, and ball four was a wild pitch, allowing Alberto to go to third. Alberto scored on another wild pitch as Robinson took second. A double by Jeremy Williams brought Robinson home, giving the Crawdads an 8-1 lead. The third wild pitch of the inning sent Williams to third, from where he scored on a single by Torres.

The Legends got one run back in the seventh inning on a double by Justin Gominsky, a single by Chan Jong Moon and a ground out by Jordan Scott.

Hickory added a run in the seventh on a walk to Cone and a double by Robinson, and another in the eighth on doubles by Akins and Rougned Odor.

Andrew Faulkner (1-3), who relieved starter Nick Martinez at the start of the fifth inning, got the win. Dufek (1-1) took the loss.

Hickory has won two out of three in the series, which concludes Sunday. Game time is 5 p.m.
