STAT OF THE DAY: Miguel Chalas is the only active Shorebirds pitcher with more than two wins this season. He has four wins to lead the team. Chalas has won half of his outings (4 of 8). Chalas won three of his first four appearances.
PREVIEW: The Shorebirds recorded just two hits between the first and seventh innings and dropped game three 7-3 to the Grasshoppers. The Shorebirds rallied with two runs in the eighth inning, but Kevin Cravey retired the side in order to end the game in the ninth. With 23 games left in the first half, the Shorebirds are 12.5 games out of first place.
10 OF 13: Nicky Delmonico has hit safely in 10 of his last 13 games played. In 23 games in May, he is hitting .306 (26-85) with eight doubles, three home runs and 13 RBIs.
PLANETA RETURNS: Mikey Planeta was added back to the Shorebirds roster yesterday and went 0-for-3 with two walks to extend his SAL on-base streak to nine games. Planeta was promoted from Delmarva to Bowie on May 16. He returned to Delmarva for the first time on May 14. Planeta was first promoted to Frederick on April 27.
7-GAME ON-BASE: Mychal Givens went 0-for-3 last night, but walked once to extend his on-base streak to seven games. His on-base percentage has gone from .302 to .358 during the stretch.
FOWLER RETURNS: Zach Fowler came off the DL yesterday and tossed the 2.1 innings. He did not all a run and gave up just two hits. Fowler last appeared prior to last night on May 4. In his last four outings (6.0), he has not allowed a run.
MONTH OF MAY: The Shorebirds have not won more than two games in a row in May (8-15). The Shorebirds have lost seven of their last ten games. Through three games in the Greensboro series (23 innings), the Shorebirds have 12 hits and five runs.
2-FOR-17: The Shorebirds are 2-for-17 in the current when hitting with runners in scoring position. They went 0-for-9 in the first two games.
