Shorebirds Silenced in 1-0 Loss to Greensboro

Salisbury, Md. - Two Greensboro Grasshoppers right-handers, Jose Fernandez and Greg Nappo, combined to strikeout 19 Shorebirds hitters in a 1-0 win on Saturday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The Shorebirds managed just three hits on the night.

The lone run of the game came across in the sixth inning. With one out, Terrence Dayleg reached on a hit by pitch. Then, Dayleg advanced to third on a grounder to short that went through the legs of Mychal Givens. With one outs, Josh Adams hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Dayleg.

Shorebirds starter Miguel Chalas allowed just one unearned run over 5.2 innings pitched. He gave up only three hits.

Greensboro starter Jose Fernandez earned the win in six shutout innings. He surrendered just two hits and struck out a career high 12 batters. Greg Nappo entered in the seventh and tossed three scoreless innings. Nappo struck out seven.

Devin Jones tossed the final 3.1 innings for the Shorebirds. He yielded just four hits and no runs.

The Shorebirds and Grasshoppers play the series finale on Sunday at 7:05pm. LHP Tim Berry is the scheduled starter for Delmarva.
