Crawdads Fall in Late Innings to Greensboro

Hickory, NC - The Crawdads fell 4-2 on Saturday night to the Greensboro Grasshoppers to even the series at one game each. The 'Dads magic number remains at six with nine games to play.

Greensboro got a pair of runs across in the fifth inning to take a 2-0 lead. Crawdads starter Tyree Thompson finished his evening after five innings, giving up two runs (only one earned) on five hits and one walk.

The 'Dads tied the game up at two in the bottom of the sixth inning. Pedro Gonzalez drew a walk with two outs to get things started. Gonzalez stole second and took third on a throwing error by the catcher. He came into to score on a double by Matt Whatley. Kole Enright drove a double off the right field wall to even the score.

The Grasshoppers pulled ahead 4-2 in the seventh inning on a hit batter and walk with the bases loaded.

The homestand wraps up tomorrow afternoon with the last Llamas de Hickory night of the season. The Crawdads will give away bobbleheads of Conrad riding a llama to the first 200 fans through the gate. Fans will have the opportunity to decorate sugar skulls during the game. It is also Church Bulletin Sunday brought to you by PDQ and fans that bring their church bulletin can get a discounted $6 ticket to the game. The Crawdads will then donate $4 back to the bulletin's respective church. In addition, it is the final hospitality night of 2019. Service and hospitality workers can get a free ticket to the game with their ID badge. Friends and family can get a discounted $6 ticket.
