Frederick Keys News Release
FREDERICK, MD. - When it mattered most, Trevor Craport delivered for the Frederick Keys (8-9) and helped seal a 4-2 win against the Salem Red Sox (5-12) at Nymeo Field on Sunday afternoon. Craport went 2-for-4 with all four RBIs thanks to a two-run, home run and a two-run single. The home run came with the Key trailing by a run, while the single broke a tie game and pushed the Keys to their second series victory of the season.
Both sides were hitless through two innings until Jarren Duran broke the score, driving an opposite field home run to put the Red Sox on top 1-0. That was the only blemish for Cody Sedlock, who let up the lone hit and run to Duran and walked three in five innings of work. The Keys cracked the scoreboard in the fourth inning. Zach Jarrett snuck a line drive down the left field line for a double, and Craport blasted his second home run of the season to give the Keys a 2-1 lead.
The Red Sox evened the score 2-2 in the sixth with a two-out, RBI double from Garrett Benge, but the Keys answered quickly. J.C. Escarra led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk, follow by a single from Jarrett. With runners on first and second, Craport hit a soft line drive to center field which scored both runners to put Frederick ahead 4-2.
Travis Seabrooke (1-0) pitched out of traffic over two innings after allowing three hits and walking two batters. Luis Perez (S,1) pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth inning, striking out a pair while retiring six of seven Red Sox. Hunter Smith (0-2) allowed two runs on two hits in an inning and two-thirds.
The Keys will join the rest of the Carolina League for a day off on Monday before hitting the road for a six-game stretch in North Carolina. Frederick will take on Fayetteville starting Tuesday at the newly minted Segra Stadium before heading to Winston-Salem for the weekend series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00pm, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn radio app.
The Frederick Keys are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and play their home games at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. Following the 2018 season, the Keys were named the winner of the Carolina League's Complete Franchise Award. This goes to a team in the league which demonstrates franchise stability and significant contributions to its community and the league. In 2019, the team will host the Carolina League All-Star Classic presented by Visit Frederick.
