Coyotes Lose to Broncos

LAREDO, TX- The Edinburg Coyotes could not find their offense until late in the game against the Laredo Broncos falling 7-5 Friday night at Veterans Field.

The Broncos (9-7) scored early against pitcher Geivy Garcia, who got his third loss of the season. Dwayne White led the game off with a single and came around to score on a Luany Sanchez RBI double. The Broncos got their second run of the inning on an RBI double by Jose Salas to push the lead to 2-0.

Coyotes (7-8) answered back with two runs of their own in the top of the second inning. Amado German got his first hit of the season and then moved over to second on a balk by Santos Hernandez. Nick Aranda then moved German over to third with an infield single to put runners on the corners for Angelo Fermin. Manager Vince Moore decided to put the wheels in motion. Aranda took second base with his sixth stolen base of the season and German scored on the double steal, to tie the game at two.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Broncos matched the two runs that the Coyotes put up with two runs of their own. Ivan Reyes started the inning with a lead off double and came around to score on a RBI single by Anthony Bennett to put the score at 3-2. The Broncos pushed their lead to 4-2 with a RBI single by Arnoldo Ponce to plate Bennett from second base.

The Broncos added to their lead when Luany Sanchez hit a two run single to plate White and Ponce for a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Bennett had an RBI single in the seventh inning for his second RBI of the game that scored Ivan Reyes, who walked to lead off the inning, and that pushed the lead to 7-2.

The Coyotes scored three runs on three hits in the ninth inning to inch closer but could not finish the comeback against the Broncos.

Hernandez went seven innings and had nine strike outs to get his third win of the season.

The Coyotes and Broncos will play the second game of the three games series with the first pitch scheduled for 7:35 p.m. on Saturday night.
