Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

Edinburg, TX- The Edinburg Coyotes struggled early with pitching throughout the series opening game against the Amarillo Dillas as they fell 4-3 on Friday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. The Coyotes were unable to catch up from a sour fourth inning in which Coyote's starting pitcher Miliade Venas gave up three runs on three hits.

Coyotes struck first in the game as Gary Roche came in from second off a RBI single from Daryl Jones.

After pitching two scoreless innings, Venas fell into a slump in the third as he walked in Jonathan Reynosa from third to even the score. Venas ended the inning with four walks but managed to prevent a run from scoring as Brachold tried to steal third to end the inning. Dillas got off to a great start in the fourth as Venas continued to struggle. Stephen Douglas doubled to center field to lead off the inning and advanced to third off a single to right field by Andrew Wong. Two batters later, Keith Brachold brought in Douglas off an RBI single to right field which advanced Wong to third. After a walk to Gary Schneidmiiler, Coyotes catcher Jason Arrowood tried to pick off Brachold at second but no one covered the bag and the ball sailed into center field thus bringing in Wong. Brachold then scored on a pass ball to stretch the lead to three. Venas was replaced by Miguel Martinez to close out the inning.

The Coyotes cut the lead in half after Logan Wood scored on a sacrifice fly by the DH Eddie Wilson. With runners at the corner, the Dillas turned a crucial double play to retire the side and end the Coyote rally.

Coyotes tried to muster up one final rally as pinch runner Patrick Gaylord scored on a RBI single by Wilson. But with two outs, Nick Aranda flied out to right to end the game. Coyotes play the Dillas again at 7:05 tomorrow night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
