
Coyotes Lose Again in Extra Innings

EDINBURG, Texas- The Edinburg Coyotes (14-23) were unable to survive a late rally from the Alexandria Aces (19-17) as they go down 7-5 Friday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Miguel Martinez pitched a great game for the Coyotes as he gave up only two runs through 5 2/3 innings. But Coyotes closer Julio Castro gave up three runs in the eighth inning and reliever Adam Clay (1-3) picked up the loss as he gave up two runs in the 10th inning. Charlie Foster (4-0) picked up his fourth win of the season as he struck out two through two innings of play. Wayne Hedden(1) picked up his first save. Eric Gonzalez led the Coyotes offensively as he went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI. Bryan Sabatella led the charge for the Aces as he went 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs.
The Aces were able to strike first off a ground out by Selwyn Langaigne that brought in Bryan Sabatella from third to give them a 1-0 advantage in the first. Coyotes answered back in the bottom of the frame when Eric Gonzalez scored from third on a fielder's choice by MayoBanex Santana to tie the game at 1.
In the second, Coyotes' newly acquired outfielder Robert Matlock singled and advanced to second on an error by the pitcher. He then scored on an error by the third baseman that advanced Alex Entrikin to second. Entrikin reached third on a pass ball and scored on an RBI double from Eric Gonzalez to extend the lead to 2. Aces pulled within one in the top of the fourth after Palmer Carr crushed one over the center field wall to give him his ninth home run of the season.
The Coyotes countered in the bottom of the frame after adding two more runs from Gonzalez and Angelo Fermin to give them a 5-2 lead. After three scoreless innings, the Aces were able to tie the game in the eighth after scoring three runs off of four hits. The Aces were able to propel themselves over the Coyotes in the 10th after notching two more runs off Clay to give them win. The Coyotes take on the Aces in Game 2 of their three-game series tomorrow night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. First pitch is at 7:05.
