Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

AMARILLO, Texas- The Edinburg Coyotes tailed by three runs as they headed into the top of the ninth inning, but they never gave up as they beat the Amarillo Dillas 12-# Tuesday night at the Dilla Villa.

Coyote starter Aaron Guerra was set to take the loss after going seven and 2/3 innings allowing seven runs on five hits. He also struck out eight on the game. He received a no decision after dueling with Dilla start Josh Smith. The Dillas got off to a 1-0 lead as Danny Bravo hit a single into center field that allowed Jonathan Reynoso to score from second base.

In the fourth inning, Mayobanex Santana got aboard with an infield single to third base. Then Daryl Jones followed with a single of his own into center field and Santana moved to third on the hit. With runners on the corners, Amado German hit a single down the first base line to score Santana from third to tie the game at 1-1. With runners on the corners again, Robert Matlock hit a single to center field that scored Jones from third base to give the Coyotes a 2-1 advantage.

The Dillas took the lead away from the Coyotes in the fifth inning after Guerra hit Reynoso on the first pitch and walked Keith Brachold. With runners at first and second base, Gary Schneidmiller hit a two run double in the right field gap that plated Reynoso and Brachold to make the score 3-2. The Coyotes would tie it up again in the top of the seventh inning when Matlock scored from first base on an RBI triple by Angelo Fermin down the first base line.

The curse of the one bad inning for the Coyote pitching staff struck again as the Dillas sent nine batters to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning. They would score four runs on two hits, two walks and two hit batters to make the score 7-3. The Coyotes inched closer in the top of the eighth inning as Gary Roche scored on an RBI single from Logan Wood that made the score 7-4.

The Dillas went into the ninth inning never losing a game after scoring the first run of the game. The Coyotes had other plans as they had an inning of their own that had them sending 12 batters to the plate. The big hit came off the bat of Alex Entrekin who hit a three run home run that capped an eight run inning for the Coyotes and that gave them a 12-5 lead. The Dillas would add a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to make the final score 12-8. Luke Prihoda got his second win of the season (2-0) after pitching an inning and a third of scoreless baseball.

The Coyotes and Dillas will have a double header Wednesday afternoon with the first game starting at 6:05 p.m. The first game will be the completion of the May 25th game that was postponed by bad weather. The second game will be played upon the completion of the first game.
