Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

Edinburg, TX- The Edinburg Coyotes bounced back from yesterday's opening day loss to take game two of a three- game series against the San Angelo Colts 5-1 at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Coyotes (1-1) were able to establish superb pitching throughout the game as starting pitcher Aaron Guerra aka "Mad Scientist" picked up where he left off from last year striking out three batters and giving up only five hits with one run in the game.

Both teams played solid defense through three innings but the Coyotes found their offensive rhythm in the fourth inning bringing four runs. During the inning, first baseman Daryl Jones was able to load the bases with line drive over the San Angelo third baseman. Left fielder Logan Wood hit one into center field to bring in Gary Roche and MayoBanex Sanatana from second and third. Jones then scored off a wild pitch from Colt's pitcher Frank James. Two batters later, Jermaine Williams grounded out to the short stop to bring in Wood from third.

In the fifth inning, San Angelo (1-1) was able to put a run on the board as Bryan Frichter scored off a Sam McClain double to center field. That was the only run the Colts were able to muster up as Guerra continued to pitch an outstanding game.

Right fielder Eric Gonzalez capped the game off with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend the lead to four.

Guerra picked up his first win of the season while James picked up the loss. James ended the day with three strikeouts and giving up four hits with four runs.

Coyotes will play their evening opener in tomorrow's rubber match as both teams are looking to take the three-game series. The game is will begin at 7.05 p.m.
