Courage Defender Emily Fox Named to March/April NWSL Best XI

North Carolina Courage defender Emily Fox

Settling in with her new club, the North Carolina defender won 21 duels, made 10 interceptions, passed at 82% accuracy, and assisted on the winning goal in the Courage's 1-0 win over the Houston Dash on April 28.

Fox was acquired by the Courage prior to the 2023 season in a trade with Racing Louisville. She was a 2021 NWSL Rookie of the Year finalist after being selected first overall out of the University of North Carolina. In April, she scored her first international goal for the United States Women's National team during the FIFA window friendly against Ireland.

The NWSL Best XI of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis, and the NWSL's on-air broadcast talent.
