North Carolina Courage News Release
CARY, N.C. - The North Carolina Courage earned a home clean sheet win, 3-0, over the Orlando Pride Saturday night at WakeMed Soccer Park. The Courage are now unbeaten in nine of their last 10 overall competitions and, as of the final whistle, sit tied atop the NWSL table.
Kerolin Nicoli followed her hat-trick from a week ago with the night's opening goal, slamming home a feed from Tess Boade in the 32' for what would prove to be the match-winner. Boade notched her second assist in as many league contests. Meredith Speck gave the Courage some breathing room in the 77' when Olivia Wingate played her through the middle of the box and Speck calmly passed the ball into the back of the net.
The dagger came just six minutes later when Kerolin nearly notched her second of the night, but the shot glanced off the post, then off an Orlando defender, and into the net. The own-goal gave the Courage eight tallies in the last two games.
The Courage posted their NWSL-best sixth clean sheet of the season, with Casey Murphy earning the 23rd of her Courage career and 29th overall. The Courage held 67% of possession and passed with 87% accuracy. For the second consecutive league game the team set a new season record for passing accuracy.
Next Match: The Courage host Racing Louisville FC next Saturday, June 24, for a 7:00 p.m. ET kickoff at WakeMed Soccer Park. The match will air regionally on Bally Sports South and the Bally Sports App, nationally on Paramount+ and internationally on www.nwslsoccer.com.
