San Diego Wave FC (6-4-2, 20 points) fell 2-1 against Angel City FC (3-6-3, 12 points) at Snapdragon Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The loss snaps a five-game undefeated streak for the Wave.
After an even score heading into the second half, defender Kristen McNabb broke the deadlock for the home side in the 57th minute. Forward Alex Morgan found the defender, who then struck a perfect ball from outside the box to put the Wave up by one.
However, less than 10 minutes later, Angel City defender Paige Nielsen leveled the score 1-1 with a corner kick goal. In the 88th minute, Mary Alice Vignola doubled the away team's score to earn the three points on the road for Los Angeles.
Next on the schedule: San Diego Wave host OL Reign next Saturday, June 24, at Snapdragon Stadium. The match is the club's annual Pride Night, presented by Queen Yasmine Law, with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. PT.
