Countdown to Face-Off
Published on October 28, 2006 under International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
It will be a battle of the last two remaining undefeated teams in the United Hockey League, when the Kalamazoo Wings lace up their skates against Muskegon Fury. Tonight will also be the first of twelve meetings between the intra-state rivals. The game also coincides with one of the K-Wings' newest traditions, the 3rd Annual Orange Ice Game.
Kalamazoo is 1-1-0 in Orange Ice Games. The K-Wings lone defeat on the pumpkin ice was back on October 30, 2004, when Kalamazoo lost 4-3 to Muskegon. Kalamazoo won last year's Orange Ice affair 4-1 against Fort Wayne. This will be the first game for Kalamazoo since coming from behind last Saturday to defeat Flint 3-2.
In recent years, the Fury has been known as a team that gets off to fast starts and this year is no different. Muskegon is off to a perfect 6-0-0 start and leads the Eastern Conference by four points. Last season, the Fury started the year with a record of 10-0-0 before suffering their first loss to Kalamazoo on November 19th in Muskegon.
