IHL 2 Kalamazoo Wings

Countdown to Face-Off

February 17, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

For the sixth time this season, the Kalamazoo Wings will battle the Motor City Mechanics. On the year, the K-Wings are 4-1-0 against their division rivals. Kalamazoo comes into tonight's game in second place in the division, 18 points over the Mechanics who currently sit in third.

After a 6-5 shootout come-from-behind victory over the Muskegon Fury Tuesday on Pink Ice, the K-Wings find themselves just two points out of the division's top spot. Kalamazoo, who has won three games in a row, will also try to extend their four-game home winning streak.

Despite a loss to the Fort Wayne Komets last Sunday, the Mechanics have been playing solid hockey. Over the course of their last 10 games, Motor City has a record of 6-3-1 and they are currently in a three-way tie with Quad City and Richmond for seventh place in the United Hockey League.

Roster Moves

The K-Wings have made two adjustments to their roster. Kalamazoo has placed forward Tyler Rennette on the team's 7-day injured reserve list (retro to 02/14/06). In a separate transaction, the K-Wings have activated forward Tim Turner from the team's 10-day IR. Turner has not skated in a game since January 28th versus Fort Wayne.

Eight isn't Enough

Forward Jason Deitsch enters the game on a lengthy point streak. Deitsch starts the night on an eight-game point streak. The eight-game point streak is the longest current point streak by a K-Wings player.

Giving a Helping Hand

With 45 assists this season, defenseman Daniel Carriere has established a new K-Wings UHL franchise record for assist by a defenseman. Carriere eclipsed the old record of 43 held by former K-Wing Guy Dupuis (2003-04), with two assists during Kalamazoo's 11-3 victory last Sunday versus Port Huron.

Just Win Baby!

The K-Wings are looking to extend two winning streaks. Kalamazoo has won three straight overall and four straight in Wings Stadium. During the three-game winning streak, the K-Wings have outscored their opposition 31-8.
