Countdown to Face-Off
November 20, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
After knocking off the top team in the Central Division, the Muskegon Fury last night, the K-Wings will set their sights on stopping one the hottest team in the United Hockey League, the Quad City Mallards. The K-Wings will put their five-game overall and six-game home winning streak on the line against the Mallards, who are 6-1-1 in their last eight games.
A victory by the K-Wings this afternoon will put them in a first place tie with the Muskegon Fury. The K-Wings have been defending their home ice well, going a perfect 6-0-0, and outscoring their opposition by a total of 32-7. The K-Wings possess the best goaltending tandem in the league, as Joel Martin and former Mallard Jeff Reyneart are tops in the UHL in both goals against average and save percentage.
Starting with yesterday's game in Motor City, the Mallards better get used to life on the road. Quad City started a stretch of games that will keep them away from home in 16 of their next 18 games. Forwards Chad Woollard and Engeny Lazarev spark the Mallards offense. Woollard is third in the league with 11 goals, while Lazarev has scored a goal in each of his last three games.
