Dogs win 4-3, continue Elmira domination

RICHMOND, VA - The Richmond RiverDogs continue their domination of the Elmira Jackals as they defeat their division rivals by a score of 4-3 in a shootout before 3,117. With the win, Richmond is now 4-8-1 and creeping up in the standings in the Eastern Division. Richmond went out in front 2-0 on goals from John DiPace and Jason Cassells. Elmira struck back twice with a pair from MacDonald and Cooper before David Brosseau capitalized on the power play after a major penalty from Elmira's Clayton. Chaput evened the scoring at 3-3 midway through the third period forcing the game into the shootout, Richmond's second this season. In the shootout, the RiverDogs scored twice from David Olivera and Brosseau while netminder Doug Groenestege stoned Elmira's shooters, allowing one goal in five attempts. In winning, the RiverDogs continue their domination against Elmira as they win their fourth in five meetings with the Jackals.

The RiverDogs take to the road for a Wednesday night contest against the Danbury Trashers before returning home to Face the Trashers on Friday, November 25 and against their state rivals, Roanoke Valley, on Saturday, November 26. Friday night's match will be Richmond Times-Dispatch Family 4 Pack Night. Saturday night's game against the Vipers will be Pack the Pound Night.
